Domingo Rodríguez was Born in Valencia, Spain in 1994, Torres showed a keen interest in fashion from a young age. He studied fashion design at the EASD Valencia and went on to complete a master’s degree in fashion design at the prestigious Istituto Marangoni in Milan, Italy. During his studies, Torres gained experience working for a number of high-end fashion houses, including Roberto Cavalli and Giorgio Armani. He also participated in fashion shows and exhibitions in Milan and Paris, which helped him to develop his signature style.
Dominnico’s collections have been featured in numerous fashion publications, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle. The brand has also gained a celebrity following, with stars such as Rosalía, Billie Eilish, and Bad Bunny spotted wearing Dominnico designs. Torres has stated that he draws inspiration from his Spanish heritage, as well as from contemporary art and music. Domingo Rodríguez Lázaro has once again infused his new ready to wear collection at Dominnico with a combination of motor racing, nostalgia from the 2000s, & pop culture iconography. The Dominnico fall 2023 collection stands out for its bold cuts, spiky silhouettes, and peekaboo details, which were attained through the use of upcycling methods, lycra, and leather. According to Rodríguez Lázaro, the new collection is based on his childhood and teenage years spend with his dad, which he has translated into a soft femininity linked to success and sports.
The designer was very much inspired by the sentiments of “adrenaline” that one experiences while committed sports and pushing the body to its confines. This theme is reflected in the new collection’s double-belted miniskirts, bandeau tops, skater dresses, asymmetrical dresses, and other Y2K-inspired pieces targeted at Gen Z. The main challenge that the designer faced when designing this Dominnico Madrid Fall 2023 Collection was how to represent a particular moment in time and, in doing so, signify an entire generation.
